The Tricentennial Park Committee is pleased to announce that on:
March 3, 2011, the Norton Board of Selectmen approved the development of a Tricentennial Park as a permanent memorial to the town’s 300th birthday.

We plan to develop the park over the next few months. The site has been cleared and is ready for development. We envision a natural green space, attractive to young and old, that will feature low-maintenance native vegetation, a natural water feature, memorial benches and small gardens. The Land Preservation Society (LPS) of Norton will register the park with the National Wildlife Federation as a Certified Wildlife Habitat.

We believe that this project is ideal in that it brings together:
  • Norton’s past, by enhancing the historic Campbell House on the property;
  • Norton’s present by employing an environmentally sensible design and by acknowledging of our 300-year history;
  • Norton’s future, by providing a convenient opportunity for school children to perform community service and participate in nature workshops along with other learning events.

We have started to contact local businesses and organizations in an effort to raise funds and organize community service projects to help us achieve our goals. We hope to work on the park beginning in April and install benches, plants, and signs in May and June. This can be an excellent opportunity for children in Norton Public Schools to do very meaningful community service.
